Up-and-coming musician Hallie Marie shifts from a pop sound to a blues-rock vibe in her latest track “A Small Man’s Pride.”

“The idea was to convey my heartache as well as an empowered vulnerability. Like yeah, I feel anger, I feel betrayal but I also feel strong and wiser instead of smaller and more insecure,” Hallie said.

The record blends classic blues-rock influences with modern alternative rock textures. Hallie’s soulful vocals combined with rich, gospel-style backing harmonies amplify both the song’s vulnerability and its defiance. These elements make “A Small Man’s Pride” a timeless yet contemporary anthem that balances raw emotion with undeniable strength.

“This is a song primarily about female rage,” she continues. “People have no problem with a woman’s sadness, grief, or heartbreak but every woman has experienced disregard or pushback when they express emotions that are not traditionally associated with femininity and softness.”

“This is not a rejection of anyone else’s power. It’s an affirmation of the healing that happens when you are listened to instead of dismissed as a ‘bitch’ or ‘overreacting’ the moment we raise our voice. It is empowering to finally say, ‘No, I will not take on the entire burden of being hurt when you have hurt me. We all have to take responsibility for how our actions affect others.'”

“A Small Man’s Pride” is a song for any woman who’s ready to release her rage and come out the other side feeling that sense of empowerment that Hallie mentions. You can listen below.
